APPLICATION
SolarEdge power optimizers are DC voltage converters used in conjunction with inverters from the Israeli company SolarEdge. The patented Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm and innovative design of the optimizers allow for maximum power extraction from connected photovoltaic modules, enhancing the economic performance of the station. The combination of power optimizers and SolarEdge inverters enables the best efficiency in solar power generation worldwide.
GENERAL STRUCTURE AND OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The SolarEdge SE M1600 power optimizer is used with three-phase inverters rated from 25 kW and supports the connection of four solar panels to two independent inputs, each with a capacity of 900 W. This model is compatible with both monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels, with a maximum power tolerance of +5%.
The use of power optimizers allows for the design of solar power plants with unique structures that are not available from any other manufacturers. Since one optimizer manages the power of four panels, it opens up extensive possibilities for utilizing complex roof slopes that have different orientations to the cardinal directions and varying tilt angles. In the case of designing strings with an odd number of photovoltaic modules, it is allowed to connect between one and three modules to the optimizer.
The design of the SolarEdge SE M1600 power optimizers allows for connecting solar panels from different manufacturers and with different power ratings in one string, but only the M1600 model is used. This facilitates future power upgrades of the station and allows for the replacement of a damaged solar panel with any available model on the market.
A unique feature of using SolarEdge equipment in solar power plants is the ability to monitor the station’s performance at the level of a single optimizer. Intelligent analysis functions of the optimizers help prevent generation losses by identifying malfunctioning solar panels. Remote monitoring of the station can be conducted from anywhere in the world.
SolarEdge inverters and power optimizers feature a unique safety function called SafeDC. This function reduces the output DC voltage of the optimizer to a safe level of 2V, allowing maintenance to be performed without the risk of electric shock. Additionally, this function complies with strict European fire safety regulations.
The IP68 protection class allows for operation in any environmental conditions.
