APPLICATION
SolarEdge power optimizers are DC voltage converters used in conjunction with inverters from the Israeli company SolarEdge. The patented Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm and innovative design of the optimizers allow for maximum power extraction from connected photovoltaic modules and improve the economic performance of the station. The combination of power optimizers and SolarEdge inverters enables the best-in-class efficiency of solar power generation.
OVERALL STRUCTURE AND OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The Solar Edge SE P650 power optimizer is used with three-phase inverters with a power rating starting from 15 kW and supports the series connection of two solar panels with a total power of 650 W. This model is compatible with monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels with a maximum power tolerance of +5%.
Using power optimizers allows for the design of solar power plants with unique structures that are not available from any other manufacturers. Since one optimizer manages the power of two panels, this opens up extensive possibilities for utilizing complex roof slopes that have different orientations to the cardinal directions and varying tilt angles. In the case of designing strings with an odd number of photovoltaic modules, it is permissible to connect one module to the optimizer.
The design of the SolarEdge SE P650 power optimizers allows for connecting solar panels from different manufacturers and of different power ratings in one string, connecting them to the P730 and P801 models. This enables future power expansion of the station and the replacement of a damaged solar panel with any available model on the market.
A unique feature of using SolarEdge equipment in solar power plants is the ability to monitor the operation of the station at the level of a single optimizer. Intelligent analysis functions of the optimizers help prevent generation losses by detecting malfunctioning solar panels. Remote monitoring of the station can be performed from anywhere in the world.
SolarEdge inverters and power optimizers feature a unique safety function called SafeDC. This function reduces the output DC voltage of the optimizer to a safe level of 1V, allowing maintenance to be performed without the risk of electric shock. This function also complies with strict European fire safety regulations.
The IP68 protection class allows for operation in any environmental conditions.
